Booneville, KY – Irene (Hudson) Sandlin, age 71, widow of Richard, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 following a brief illness at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, KY. Irene was born in Booneville, Owsley County, KY on June 6, 1940, a daughter of the late Emery and Mary (Teller) Hudson. She was a homemaker and could be found in the fields with her husband tending to the family farm. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church located in the Island Creek community of Owsley County. She is survived by 1 son; Richard “Richie” (Julie) Sandlin of Booneville, KY, 4 brothers; Wayne, Norris, Claude and Rickie Hudson, 1 sister; Charlene Hudson, 2grandchildren; Richard C. and Sasha Noel Sandlin, along with many other loving family members and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 47 years, 2 sisters; Christine Reed and Robin Allen, and 1 brother; Gene Hudson. Funeral Services will be held at the Booneville Funeral Home, Booneville, KY at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2012 with Pastors Freddy Berry and Virgil Herald officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 2:00 PM until time of service at the Funeral Home. Irene will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Hudson Family Cemetery located in the Island Creek community of Owsley County.
