Coy Turner

Booneville, KY –Coy Turner, age 83, husband of Martha Christina Sandlin, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, KY. Coy was born in Breathitt County, KY on June 28, 1930, a son of the late Grover and Nannie McIntosh Turner. He was a member of the Morris Fork Presbyterian Church for many years. He was retired from Codell Construction and Buckhorn Mining. He enjoyed hunting and was active in the Owsley County Sportsman Club and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, 1 son; Michael (Carol) Turner of Buckhorn, KY, 1 daughter Eva Christina Turner of Booneville, KY, 3 grandchildren; Toi Michelle Turner (David) Dean, Joy Leann Turner, April Nicole Turner (Brandon) Stamper, 4 great-grandchildren; Jacob David Dean, Jesse Lane Coy Stamper, Jody Luke Stamper and Jace Levi Stamper and a host of other relatives and friends. Coy was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters; Gertie Turner, Ethel Johnson, Odie Johnson, Dorothy Turner and Hazel Moore, 2 brothers; Ray and Roy Turner and 1 grandson; Michael Edward Portwood. Funeral Services will be held at the Booneville Funeral Home, Booneville, KY at 1:00PM on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 with Pastors Michael Riley and Phillip Swartzentruber officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Coy will be laid to rest in the Sandlin Turner Cemetery located on Ground Hog Road near the county line of Breathitt County and Perry County.
